Preacher Who Says Its Ok To Use Cuss Words
I've been called to the ministry since 1999 and went through seminary and have a piece of paper and a ring (Big Deal). The decision to go ahead and use the same words that the rest of the world uses was easy as long as I thought no one else was listening, but to come right out and say "fuck" while preaching about the Love of God? That took a little more prodding from the Holy Spirit. By the way, all of the holy rollers are digging through their Bibles right now to point to scriptures that tell me how wrong I am, so let's help them right along.
Actually, I have to give credit to a guy that has always impressed me in his walk with God and he was the first one to have a conversation with me about the cussing. So, here are a few of the scriptures that he brought up to discuss with me...
Ephesians 4:29
"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
To use cuss words in the completion of a sentence doesn't really have anything to do with relating to the content whether it is wholesome or unwholesome. From the link, you can look at the definition and tell me...
If my long lost friend is walking towards me and I say, "Hey you fucker! How have you been?", while giving him a hug, Is that unwholesome? Now, we know that when you see someone stealing your hub caps and you yell, "Don't move you mother fucker!" that this isn't our best and most wholesome moment. I'll let you decide what words that you want to use during that situation.
1 Peter 3:10
"For whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech."
James 3:9-12
"With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water."
So, dealing first with deceitful. If you clicked on the link, you can see that unless you are using the word BULLSHIT to actually bullshit someone, then saying bullshit isn't really faltering according to this scripture. Now, we should definitely keep our tongues from bullshit because that is just gross. AND I agree that we also need to keep our tongues from evil, but unless I am preaching something that is truly against God, I don't think that a cuss word qualifies as evil. There are some words that women would say qualify as evil and I advise you my brothers not to direct the four letter word that begins with a "C" has "un" in the middle and ends with a "T" at your wife or girlfriend in a fit of rage or you may experience true evil in its most raw form. (i.e. pots and pans flying at your head!)
Moving on to James 3:9-12:
If you are driving in heavy traffic and get cut off by a guy in a great big truck and you yell out, "Holy fucking shit!" I don't think that you are violating this scripture. Now if you floor the gas and make your way around to the driver side window of that truck, where the driver can see you (granted you will have to get his attention away from his phone and texting) and say, "Fuck you buddy!", then we have to look at your intentions. If your intention is to wish for him to have a lovely night of sex with his wife, then your still okay. On the other hand, if you are intending for him to be bent over and pounded unwillingly by an NFL lineman, then you have crossed the line and I think you can consider yourself to have made a boo boo where this scripture is concerned.
So, just for clarity, let's not "Curse" people, regardless of the words we use to do it. You would be just as wrong in the last situation if you had said, "I hope that fine gentleman finds his way down the road and right into a telephone pole!" That would definitely be considered a curse. No No! Don't curse people.
Now, regardless of the words that you use and the sins that you commit, there is only one thing that you can do that will really screw you up for eternity and it was Jesus who pointed it out...
Jesus says that you will be forgiven "every slander they utter".
Those who are so shocked and concerned that I use cuss words when I preach, don't have the most basic understanding of what the important message is... Believe in Jesus and the One who sent Him! If you Deny the Holy Spirit and deny the Son of God, then you grieve The Holy Spirit. By your denial, the Lord Jesus is required to deny you before His Father. When that happens, you must account for each and every sin that you have ever committed. Your defense, no matter what it is, will never be good enough to cover your multitude of sins. Therefore, Your loving Father, your Creator, must banish you to an eternal death without Him. This place of banishment has been referred to as Hell or Hades, but you only need to imagine being removed from the presence of the one true God. God is the One who holds all of your cells together. He has been with you from the moment of your creation. You have never experienced what it is like to be without God. Even in the height and midst of your worst moments, God was there. If you deny Jesus, there will come a time when you are removed from the presence of God. That will be the most horrible existence that anyone could ever imagine. Truly, it will be so horrific that it cannot be imagined.
Don't wait to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. No man knows the number of their days. Accept Jesus now and say in your heart,
Jesus I believe that you are the Son of God and that You died on the cross for me and my sins and that I am forgiven. I believe that you rose from the grave and that I will live with you in Heaven for eternity when I die. Thank you for saving my life!
If you said this prayer, you are forgiven of all of your sins, past, present and future. You are saved! Jesus said, "It is finished!" Nothing can ever separate you from God again!
Romans 8
New International Version (NIV)
In conclusion, if you are still tripping because I said a few cuss words, then go somewhere that the message of God can get through to you. By the way, Don't you dare watch network television, PG-13 rated movies or higher, Don't ever go to a comedy club, Don't listen to any secular music or radio stations. Basically you might want to put ear plugs in for the rest of your life so as to protect your virgin ears.
So now you know,
Keep Calm, Love God, G.O.Y.A.!
