Dig deep in the PLAY Jar!!!

Space City Comic Con - Galveston Island

This years major Christmas gift for our son, Tristan, came in the form of tickets to the Space City Comic Convention which was held at Moody Gardens on Galveston Island. You can see that my wife Donel and I made the effort to CosPlay with our son and I have to say that we had a very enjoyable time!

OOGIE BOOGIE from "Nightmare Before Christmas" took time to pose with our not so little camouflaged squirrel. That's right, Tristan is under that Ghillie Suit and Squirrel Head!

Here you can get an idea of the size of this event on Sunday, the final day.
The Banquet room floor was filled with everything from Anime and Star wars

To a Happy Steam punk Minstrel.

Phil Snyder is the Official Voice of "Jiminy Cricket"

and is the third actor to portray the famous little inspirational character!
Here he gives us an introduction as "Jiminy Cricket", but when he speaks of his little girl, Anastasia, his proud fathers voice takes the stage. He was positioned 50 feet behind his daughter on the banquet room floor, where he could keep a watchful eye on her at all times. Way to go dad!

Listen to Anastasia explain her creative process!!!

Thank you to Anastasia Snyder for taking the time to explain your creative process and displaying your wonderful works of "My Little Pony" art!

The Most disturbing and creative artwork was in the form of burnt plastic and precision molding and casting work.

These Zombie Barbie Dolls were hand made by the artist who explained the grueling process that he went through to create his vision. Through precision heat and the formation of intricate plastic work the artist created everything from teeth to entire skeletal sections. He said that he probably shaved a few years off of his life from the inhalation of toxic fumes while creating his beauties, but it was all worth it. Truly amazing, gruesome, creative and unique.

The "CosPlay" was amazing as these pictures show!

Cloud from "Final Fantasy" had his sword which was hand made and seven feet long! He was accompanied by a female version of Jack Frost from "Rise of the Guardians"

Marvel Comic book characters Storm and Spider man stopped for a picture... Thanks alot Spidey! It took me thirty minutes to get the web cleaned off of my costume!!!

I found Batman watching a first release episode of "More than Humans." He was in a fantastically detailed hand made and molded plastic battle costume. He seemed a little run down, but I later found him loading back up on some high octane "Monster" Energy drink. I never would've imagined Batman using a straw!

Gender is no bother during CosPlay! Here are some examples... "Hellboy" in a female version complete with prosthetic horns and cigar in place. She is accompanied by a woman who loves all things "Doctor Who."

This Iron Man outfit was hand made from head to toe. In the video you can see the rotation of the over the shoulder Gatling Gun, illuminated eyes and power source!

At Space City Comic Con I ran into the Fairy Brothers, Dim N Wit! What a Hoot these guys were and we just loved them! Be yourself, Express yourself! Don't let anyone hold you down or block your imagination. The world is yours!

I love the way this picture turned out. The CosPlay Characters look like toy action figures. Pyramid Head in the middle is from the video game "Silent Hill" and you can see that his sword is over 6 feet long.

There really isn't anything groundbreaking about going to a Comic Convention. Nothing overly spiritual and I don't have any scriptures that I need to quote for you. What I do think is important to remind you about is... it is okay to play dress up every once in a while. It is healthy to reach into that Play Jar and spend some time with your family and have some fun. Blow off some steam and enjoy life!

 G.O.Y.A. and Merry Christmas,

The Fu King Preacher
